This workshop is aimed of a novice or competent level.

The session will be composed of the following sections :

1.       Lectures on ACS (definitions, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment).

2.       Demonstration how to measure Urinary bladder pressure.

3.       Case presentation and interactive discussion with participants.

4.       How to decompress abdomen/open abdomen treatment (techniques)

5.       How and when to close abdomen after decompression (techniques)

 

The learning objectives are :

1.       Be aware that abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is frequent in critically ill patients and carry a high morbidity and mortality risk.

2.       Identify risk factors predicting ACS

3.       Clinical presentation of ACS

4.       Appropriate measurement of intra-abdominal pressure to detect ACS

5.       Current treatment options for ACS
